ISLAMIC NEW YEAR
This post is a lil bit too late but better late than never right? haha.
New Years coming up and I bet most of you all are pretty much pump up about it and probably by now planning on a place to be to watch fireworks together. A must celebrate event la katakan (haha it's not like I have anything against it). The thrill of watching the DIGITS of countdown. Then you'll definitely received wish text msgs or phone calls wishing "Happy New Year". After that, you might make a new resolution for the coming year. Will try best at this, will be more patience, will be more this and that.
What puzzles me most is, how come it's so quiet when it comes to Islamic New Year? Although New Years in Islam do not usually celebrated, nor it is regarded as significant as the high holidays of Eid-ul-Adha and Eid-ul-Fitr but at the very least we can do is to acknowledge the passing of time, and take reflect on our own mortality. No?
I had a very good start on the first day of the Islamic Calender (al-juma') Through out this insignificant life of mine, I've never ever put any thought in doing anything on the first day. Usually I'll be too happy for skipping classes cause it's a holiday kan (haha bodo kan) but this year, I decided to start the day by fasting. It felt somehow strange to be fasting on a non-fasting month hahahaha. But honesty, It felt sooooo goood not physically but mentally and spiritually it is.
I'm not trying to show-off or anything like that, but I'm merely sharing this little experience of mine and who knows, this might open your heart a lil even just for a bit. INSYALLAH
